Troubleshooting• Database Resets And Data Is LostThis can be caused by more than one issue. If you have not upgraded from a previous version of XDD, please upgrade. Otherwise, your database may be over-used. Rapid reading/writing can cause the system to be overloaded, and not handle the speed of which writing and reading is occuring. If you have this issue, please report it.
• I Get Error(s) Regarding "flock"XDD utlizes a PHP function known as "flock". It is the primary way XDD locks databases so data loss is reduced. If you do not have "flock" support, the system will need to be reconfigured. Otherwise, please contact me to have the issue resolved.
• Databases Look Odd In Notepad Or Other Text EditorSince Windows and Linux "Returns" are different, and personally, I find Linux returns easier, the XDD system has been designed to keep all "Returns" as Linux format. Windows Notepad doesn't usually read Linux "Returns" correctly. Thus, you may find, multiple lines are one, and odd characters are present. If you use Windows, you can substitute Notepad with Wordpad, which seems to read these characters fine. Wordpad replaces the Linux "Returns" with Windows "Returns" on save, but XDD will revert them back, the next time the database is edited. You can also use a well-known program called Notepad++.
• Databases Are Publically ViewableIf you wish to hide the contents of your databases, but still allow scripts, and processes to access the databases, there are a few options you can consider. First, the best way, is to use .HTACCESS modification (If you are using a Linux Hosting Server). The second way is to name your databases randomly. Do not note their direct paths in your "robots.txt" file or sitemap. If you wish, you can name your databases randomly, and contain them all in a folder, which you instruct robots not to crawl, and make sure directory contents view, isn't enabled for that folder. Their are other options that you can consider, if you need ideas, please contact me.
• My Host Doesn't Allow The ".class.php" ExtensionsFirst, you should verify that your host allows you to run PHP scripts. If they do, but still do not allow this extensions variation. You can rename the file to "xdd.php". But if you wish to continue using the control panel, you should modify the internal name setting within the code.
• I Get Error(s) Regarding Undefined Function(s)It is possible that your system PHP version does not support some of the functions used by XDD. Or, the PHP installation your host is using, does not contain some libraries or extensions that XDD utilizes. If you have the ability, upgrading PHP to the newest version may be the best option, otherwise it is possible that XDD may be modified to function still on a older PHP version. In which case, please contact me.
• I Get Memory Limit Exceeded Error(s)This could be caused by several issues. XDD could be caught in a endless loop, in which case it may exceed memory limits before exceeding PHP time execution limits. Please see "Entry Will Not Delete (Time Limit Exceeded Error)". Another possibility. I have not yet tested this, but it is possible if a database file becomes large, that the system will exceed memory limits while attempting to handle the file. If you think you're having this issue please contact me. But the fix to resolve this issue, if it is occuring, would seem to be, using multiple databases in place of one large database.
